Japanese Logo

Illustrator
In the Graphics for the Web course, I developed a logo designed specifically for a Japanese audience, requiring careful cultural research and visual sensitivity. The goal was to create a mark that would resonate locally while maintaining adaptability in an international context.
I started by researching Japanese design principles, including symbolic meaning in colors. These guided my design decisions, ensuring the final logo is respectful. I developed a clean and scalable vector logo, giving special attention to proportions and harmony to create a Japanese visual aesthetic.
This project has strengthened my ability to design across cultures, demonstrating adaptability, research-driven decision-making, and strategic visual communication in a global context.
The logo is designed to represent coffee and sweets shops for people in Japan.
The cup of coffee is used to convey the logo's main purpose: a coffee shop.
The sweet behind the coffee is called a poi doughnut, or a mochi doughnut. A mix of an American doughnut and Japanese mochi.
The typography of the logo roughly translates to Star Shop, stating that their coffee and sweets are one of the best ones around.
